"From a Systems Engineer to one of the most recognized exponents of Social Stencil in Mexico, Colombia, Europe, and the United States."
Of Mexican family, born in the United States and developed mostly in Mexico, with a 10-year career dedicating himself 100% to urban art through stencil, a technique of painting with a template, used since cave art (practiced on cave rock), this technique has imposed itself throughout history as a form of expression. Himed is one of the most relevant exponents today , not only nationally but internationally, leaving his works of art with humanistic social themes in countries such as Sweden, Belgium, France, Italy, Denmark and Estonia, Spain, the United States, Colombia and Mexico.
But who is Himed_Stencil? How did a Systems Engineer decide to dedicate his entire life to urban art at a time, especially in our country, when it's often categorized and frowned upon by various social groups.
Himed tells us that his interest in art and drawing began in his childhood, when at school he was asked to paint or draw "like most children," he says, but it wasn't until the beginning of high school when several of his classmates put on a graffiti exhibition in his civics and ethics class that his interest began. He says that at first he began trying to read and interpret the "signatures" or graffiti that were in his community. He decided to start out alone because he didn't feel identified with the other people who did it; he did it solely for the pleasure of capturing his drawing on a wall, but he didn't share what the manner or means of doing it entailed.
Until one day, a couple of friends who liked to draw came up with the idea of creating something on paper, cutting it out, using it as a stencil, and spray-painting it. They were fascinated with the result. Later, they discovered it was a fairly old technique and not something they had invented, but rather something they had discovered. It became their favorite pastime among all the normal activities an average teenager engages in.
Some time later, the time came to "do something with his future," preparing to become someone in life as society and the system demanded. So he decided to study Systems Engineering , which he completed and graduated as such. He decided that in the meantime, while he found work, he would continue painting. Without realizing it , from that moment on, he would become a full-time painter . He began to travel and paint outside of his city, participating in projects to which he was invited without any remuneration, solely for the pleasure and love of art.
This went on for about five years, without receiving any payment for what he did, only receiving "support" to complete his creations. At the same time, he began publishing his artwork on social media from his Instagram account, Himed_Stencil . His works are characterized by large formats with unique and unrepeatable designs that always seek to economize and reuse as many materials as possible.

Her community grew as she began to meet more people from the same field, until one day in 2016 she received a call from a friend informing her that she would be part of a social project between Sweden and Mexico as a cultural exchange focused on art. This project came to fruition in 2017 in the city of Hammarkullen , made up of and inhabited by people of more than 100 nationalities , mostly immigrants and refugees. She would have a special participation, creating one of her works as well as teaching a workshop that sought to integrate cultures, languages, and religions through art (Stencill).

Himed tells us, "It's worth mentioning that several of the participating members didn't speak English, so it was a very interesting experience since painting and art don't require any languages ." Fascinating, isn't it?
With the help of the financial support provided and the passion to continue creating art related to the country and culture he visited, he traveled throughout Europe, leaving his mark and creating large-scale works such as the following:
Brussels, Belgium 2017
Tallinn, Estonia, Mextonia 2017
All of this took place in approximately three months, during which he traveled across Europe, seeking out art exhibitions and contacting various organizations so he could be a part of them and be able to "paint."
This wouldn't be the last time he would visit the continent, as two years later, thanks to his creations, he would return to continue leaving his mark.

Himed is currently traveling around some part of our country, continuing to create and express himself through large-scale stencils . He has more projects in other countries on the American continent, so his path continues.
We asked him about the purpose of his portraits, he explains that there will always be someone who can see them, analyze them, feel identified or attacked, and that is exactly what he aims to do , to create emotions in order to bring about change.
Our greatest admiration for all your work and your perseverance in pursuing one of your greatest passions despite adversity. An example in our country that deserves recognition for your effort and talent .
We've attached the portfolio below where you can admire all of her work, as well as her Instagram page.

Before finishing this first "Blog about the Artist" we will add a section where we will share the cutters or tools used by the artists to carry out their designs or works of art, called:
"Tools or Instruments Section"

And his most used one, his favorite, is the 9-millimeter XA-1 model, which, by the way, he has tattooed on his arm. He's a big fan of the OLFA brand.
